Twitter's Edit Button is Finally Available in the US

The fee we just mentioned is actually the monthly subscription fee for Twitter Blue. So yes, only Twitter Blue users can use the edit button for now.

According to a report by Engadget, Twitter has not confirmed as of press time whether or not the edit button will be made widely available in the future. The report likewise notes that the feature is categorized as one that is part of Twitter Blue Labs.

So how exactly does the edit feature work? Basically, users will have a 30-minute time period in which they can make any changes to their tweets. Changes to tweets that you can make are not limited fixing typos or adding and removing a word or two. You can also tag another user or reorder the media you included.

There is also a version history so followers can actually see all the changes that have been made to a particular tweet.

According to a tweet posted on the Twitter Blue account, an icon will appear on a tweet that has been edited. A separate Engadget report notes that changes to a tweet can be made up to five times.

Initial Rollout of the Edit Button

The US is not the first country where Twitter Blue users can enjoy the edit button. In fact, the feature was actually first launched in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Similar to how things are going in the US, only Twitter Blue users in those countries can edit their tweets.

The edit button was announced in April following a poll held by Elon Musk, Twitter's largest shareholder and potential new owner. In September, Twitter itself posted a test tweet to see if the edit button feature is working as it should.
