Verizon Nokia Lumia 1520 spotted at the FCC

The Verizon version of the Nokia Lumia 1520 with model number RM-927 has been spotted at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Rumors of a Nokia phablet, the Lumia 1520, have been circling the smartphone arena very frequently and we may see the handset hit the shelves sooner rather than later.

"The Nokia RM-927 visited the Feds and mobile ad network AdDuplex previously noted the same model number and said it was for a device heading to Verizon, carrying resolution of 1080 x 1920 and had the GDR3 update installed," reports Phone Arena.

Some previous reports suggested that the Lumia 1520 may be exclusive to AT&T in the U.S; however, a recently-leaked image of the white version of the Lumia 1520 carried Verizon branding, hinting that the phablet will also be available from other carriers in the U.S.

Recently, an image of the AT&T version of the Lumia 1520 emerged online, but there are some notable differences between the leaked images of the AT&T and the Verizon version of the upcoming Nokia phablet.

The Verizon version of the Lumia 1520 doesn't seem to have a camera bump at the rear of the device. Moreover, the Verizon variant of the phablet is also thicker than the AT&T model of in order to accommodate a bigger battery.

A recent report indicates that the Lumia 1520 may sport a 3,400mAh battery, which will be bigger than that of other phablets available in the market, including the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy Note 3. However, a bigger battery may be available only for the Verizon version of the phablet.

The Lumia 1520 is also expected to include top-end features to rival other phablets currently available, and it's reportedly due to launch in the near term.

Nokia has not confirmed the phablet but rumors suggest that the company is planning an event on Sept. 26 - 27, where the Finnish smartphone maker will launch the Lumia 1520 along with a Windows RT-powered tablet.

Only a little over a week is left for the unannounced Nokia event, so phablets enthusiasts will eagerly wait for the company to take the wraps off the rumored Lumia 1520.
