Android 13 Rolls Out to Samsung Galaxy S22 Series Equipped With Exynos

Users of Samsung Galaxy S22 series have been reporting on both Twitter and Reddit that the stable Android 13-based update, One IU 5, is already available for download.

If you are from Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and the UK, and your phone is an Exynos model, you can download the almost 3GB One IU 5 update.

Unfortunately, the update is only available to those who owns the Exynos model. Users who own Snapdragon variants would have to wait for some time. Android Authority hopes the company will soon roll out the update to Snapdragon variants.

Samsung became available in August 2022. It rolled out to Google Pixel phones upon release. However, other companies such as Samsung "need to push the new software through their own testing and optimization pipelines."

The electronic company made a promise that it would roll out the One IU 5 update to the Galaxy S22 series later in the month of October, according to Android Police.

True to their promise, Samsung rolled out the latest update to Galaxy S22 series, including the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S22+. Other eligible devices for the update are Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy Z Flip4.

The One UI 5.0 update comes to Android phones with the S908BXXU2BVJA firmware. Given the numerous changes that it brings, its almost 3GB size is understandable.

Roll Out of Android 13 to Samsung U.S. Version Might Take Some Time

If you own any of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy Z Flip4 units, you can go to your system settings to check if the update is already available to your device.

You should get a note in the software update section telling you if One UI 5 is ready for download or not.

Samsung will release a small update for users who are on the beta version of Android 13. This update from Samsung should move their device to the final version.

On the other hand, users who are still on Android 12 will have to download a couple of gigabytes before they can update to the new software.

Users can expect a number of handy features and tweaks to Galaxy S22 series phones that come with the One IU 5 update. There will be modes, a security and privacy dashboard, and video wallpaper functionality.

Per-app language controls, notification permissions, and improved Material You support are among the other features of the Android 13-based update.

The update rolled out today to most of the European countries. But countries in other parts of the world could get the update as soon as later this week.

Unfortunately, it might take longer before the update rolls out in the U.S. version of Samsung phones. The U.S. models have a Snapdragon CPU but the update is available only to models with the Exynos chipset.
