2024 Corvette E-Ray Leak: When Is It Expected to Release?

Car enthusiasts had a surprising treat as Chevy accidentally leaked its upcoming electrified Corvette. According to The Verge, the virtual model of the sports car was seen in the company's online visualizer.

With the accidental leak, some new details about the car were revealed. The sports car is known as the 2024 Corvette E-Ray.

The colors of the car that will be available as well as the packages that will come, and the hints about exactly how it'll make use of electric motors were revealed in the leak.

Visualizer Revealed Some Details About the Corvette E-Ray

Earlier this year, Chevy announced that it was making an electrified Corvette. However, the car company wasn't clear whether it will be making a plug-in hybrid or just a regular hybrid. The latter would rely solely on regenerative breaking to fill its batteries.

Based on the model that leaked on the visualizer, the car doesn't appear to have a charging port. This implies that you won't be able to plug it in. Likewise, you won't be able to drive it purely on electric power.

According to Chevy, if you want a car that you can plug in, they are going to work on a fully electric Corvette. The company said that it is "coming very quickly" after the hybrid.

The visualizer may have revealed a lot of things that Corvette buyers are interested in. However, there are still a lot of details that are left unanswered.

According to The Verge, it did not provide any information about fuel economy, battery specifications, price, or which buttons would activate regenerative braking.

These features are things that you cannot tell just by looking at and listening to the car. Therefore, the leaked photos of what appears to be a 2024 Corvette E-Ray that was driving around Detroit did not necessarily provide many details.

2024 Corvette E-ray is Expected to be Available in Summer 2023

According to Car Scoop, the front bumper design of the Corvette E-Ray shares more in common with the Z06. However, both the rear vents and the front bumper feature more color-coding than you get with the Z06 items.

As mentioned earlier, there is no visible charging port, which suggests that the E-Ray might be a conventional hybrid.

This fact, according to Car Scoop, is a slightly unusual choice as other recent hybrid sports cars including the McLaren Artura and Ferrari 296 can all be charged from a port.

Based on the small print text on some of the screenshots, E-Ray will be available in the summer of 2023. Meanwhile, the vehicle summary for a forum user's configuration says that it will be a 2024 model-year car.

When asked for a response to the leak, a Corvette representative said "Looks like the holidays came early for a few astute Corvette fans. Stay tuned for more."

Like the regular C8, the E-Ray is expected to use the same 490 hp (497 PS) 6.2-liter LT2 V8.

However, it is expected to be augmented with an electric motor on the front axle. The additional feature will give it an all-wheel drive and a total system output of around 600 hp (608 PS).
