Nexus 7 gets a price cut in India

Indian online retailer Flipkart has reduced the price of the Nexus 7 and the tablet can now be purchased at a starting price tag of Rs 9,999 (approximately $161).

Google has already launched the new Nexus 7 in July this year and it should not come as a surprise if retailers reduce the price of the predecessor (Nexus 7) in anticipation of the successor's arrival.

The company unveiled the original Nexus 7 in June 2012 and the handset went up for sale in July 2012. The Nexus 7 won over the hearts of many tablet enthusiasts with its competitive pricing, premium quality built and powerful hardware. The tablet soon went on to become one of the most popular Android tablets in the market. However, the tablet also faced stiff competition from arch rival iPad mini, which was revealed in October 2012.

Flipkart is now offering a price cut on both the Wi-Fi and 3G versions of the Nexus 7. The Wi-Fi only 16GB version of the Nexus 7 has a price tag of Rs 9,999, while the 32GB variant now bears a retail price of Rs 13,499 (approximately $217).

If you are interested in the 3G Nexus 7, you will have to pay Rs 16,999 (approximately $273).

The Nexus 7 packs in impressive features and may still attract customers who want to buy a smaller tablet. The Google tablet sports a 7-inch display with 1,280 x 800 pixels resolution and 216 pixels per inch (ppi). A Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip powers the device. The Nexus 7 was originally launched in 8/16GB storage options but also launched in a 32GB version in Oct. 2012. The tablet also includes 1GB of RAM.

Integration with Google Play, built-in Wi-Fi, and Near Field Communication (NFC) connectivity make the tablet a full entertainment device, which serves as a platform for experiencing multimedia, e-books, television programs, films, games and music.

Google has not announced its plans to launch the refreshed version of the Nexus 7 in India. However, the recent price reduction on the Nexus 7 by Flipkart may hint that the new Nexus 7 (2013) will launch in India soon.
