‘The Last of Us Part 1’ Gets ‘Mostly Negative’ Ratings on Steam

The Last of Us Part 1 has been revisited by many gamers thanks to the success of the show adaptation on HBO. The developers have provided a PC-compatible version of the game, but it has not fared well based on its ratings on Steam.

Gamers Aren't Happy About the PC Port

The remastered version of the game was released for consoles back in 2013, and it is only now that it has become available for PC. Of course, PC gamers have rejoiced since they have waited long enough, only to be disappointed by it.

The Last of Us Part 1 by Naughty Dog has gotten "mostly negative" reviews on Steam. The release was even subjected to a delay, and Naughty Dog claims that the PC debut was "in the best shape possible." As the reviews show, it's most definitely not in the "best shape."

The game, according to reviews on the online game platform and Reddit, had many technical issues, inconsistent frame rates, crashes regularly, takes a while to load, and is optimized poorly, as mentioned in Eurogamer

One of the reviews on Steam claimed that the game crashed every 20 minutes, while another shared that they waited for more than an hour on the main menu for the shaders to render. Some reports say the game even crashes on high-end PC builds.

At the time of writing, there are almost 7,800 reviews, nearly 5,300 of which are negative, and only around 2,500 are positive. Some of the players simply said that they'll just wait for the game to be ironed out before they return to it while others wanted a refund

The PC port was made possible by porting studio Iron Galaxy, which was also responsible for the PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves. So far, there have been no responses from Sony, Naughty Dog, or iron Galaxy to address the issue.

'The Last of Us' Season 2

Many of the players who are replaying the game may be doing so to get a dose of Joel and Ellie, especially since it'll be a while before we get weekly episodes again. People who have not played the game and its sequel might be left wanting more after the season finale.

On the bright side, we at least know that there will be a second season. The bad news is that it might be released by late 2024 or early 2025. Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie on the show, said that they might start shooting for the second season by the end of 2023 or early 2024.

To get an idea of the timeframe to complete the second season, executive producer Craig Mazin said that it took 200 days to film, and then a few more months for editing, with a total of 18 months before the first season was released, according to Digital Spy.

Those who already played The Last of Us Part 2 already have an idea of what's to come for the second season. Of course, creative liberties have been taken in the show, so players can still be surprised by the second season.
