Samsung's Self-Repair Program is Rolling Out in the UK

Phones, as useful as they are, can be easily broken. A simple fall or just enough pressure can make any part of the phone crack. Luckily for Samsung users, it now has a self-repair program which will be extended to the UK.

Samsung's Self-Repair Program

The service was first introduced in the IS last year, where users will be able to have access to tools and components needed to keep their phones back in working shape. Devices such as the Galaxy S20, S21, and S22, as well as the Galaxy Book Pro are eligible for the program.

Just recently, the electronics giant has decided to roll out the service in the UK. The company will be partnering with ASWO and 2Service for both the sales and distribution of the repair kits, as mentioned in Engadget, compared to the US with iFixit.

The program covers repairs with the eligible devices' phone screen, back glass, and charging ports. Although the Galaxy Book Pro has more repair services to offer such as fixing the case front, case rear, display, battery, touchpad, power key with fingerprint reader, and rubber feet.

As of right now, the pricing for the UK is still unknown, and the same goes for other countries Samsung intends to expand its self-repair service to like Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.

In the US, eligible Samsung device users can view iFixit repair guides if they decide on doing the repair themselves. There is also technical support through the iFixit community's Answer Forum in case a user needs further guidance during the process.

Official Samsung repair guides can easily be accessed through the website. All a user has to do is add a genuine part manufactured by the company o their iFixit cart. Each device comes with links to the kind of repair users need for specific components or parts.

Samsung also offers other repair services if a user doesn't feel like conducting any self-repairs. There are over 2,000 locations for same-day service for a quick fix, a We Come To You van service for home service, and contactless mail-in repair.

Apple also offers the same service to its users. The program provides important tools, genuine Apple parts, and repair manuals to perform out-of-warranty repairs. This applies to products like iPhones, Mac laptops, Mac desktops, or Apple display models.

Users can choose to rent or buy Apple professional-grade tools from the Self-Service Repair Store. These tools are the same ones that are used by professionals in Apple Authorized Service Providers.

In some instances, System Configuration will be required after the repair, which will be indicated in the repair manual. If that's the case, users can contact the Self-Service Repair Store support team for assistance to initiate the System configuration.

Apple also accepts replaced parts back in order to be recycled. The used or damaged parts will either be refurbished by the company or recycled accordingly. Some repair types even grant the user credit for returning a replaced part from an Apple device.
