Instagram to Label Posts Generated by Meta AI

Meta appeared to rolling out several new generative AI features across its apps, starting with Instagram. 

In a screenshot posted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, it showed that Instagram will feature labels such as "Image generated by Meta AI." 

In a sense, both the creator and Meta can flag a post under this label. The feature will apply to content that was detected to be created or edited using AI.

Generative AI in Content Creation 

According to the screenshot, any content has the possibility of being labeled as AI. This includes text, images, and video from single descriptions, that were created using AI tools. 

Although Meta has not confirmed the upcoming updates, it is known that seven AI companies have committed to abide with safety measures for AI-generated content. 

During Meta's Q2 report, CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, confirmed that the company is particular in developing their AI work. New AI products might be currently under development and will roll out soon. 

Instagram's Other Features 

Aside from AI labelling, Paluzzi also leaked other upcoming features for Instagram. 

According to the screenshots, there will be a new feature for Direct Messages called Message Summary. In addition, Instagram will add Standouts, which is a way to celebrate moments with the user for the past months. 

Although no additional information was leaked from the screenshots, many are already looking forward with excitement to the upcoming AI features.
