Facebook Now Lets Users Create Five Profiles With One Account

Say goodbye to alternate accounts on Facebook.

Meta's primary social media platform was spotted to be capable of supporting five profiles with one account, allowing users to manage multiple profiles without making a separate account.

Meta previously tested this feature in July 2022, though it has been unheard of until now.

Facebook's Additional profiles

Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world with it registering 2.99 billion daily active users worldwide by April and having as many as 242.5 million users in the US alone, per Data Reportal and Demand Sage, respectively.

It is no wonder that the social media platform is used for various reasons, and Facebook is quick to accommodate them. It allows users to connect with friends and loved ones and find love via Facebook dating, and it was even used to help people find work via its jobs tab (discontinued in Feb. 2023).

However, many people like to separate the personal and professional sides of their lives, pushing them to create alternate accounts to help them manage both. Unfortunately, it can be a chore to keep up with either by switching between accounts - they can't easily view messages and posts on the other without switching to that, which leads them to neglect the other over time.

Thankfully, Meta provided Facebook users with a solution. According to Android Authority, Facebook has officially released the ability to create up to five profiles (four + your primary account) with one account, allowing users to create multiple independently functioning profiles.

These profiles come with their own notifications, messages, and privacy settings, and since they aren't separate accounts, Facebook users can switch between profiles and view them anytime.

Facebook users can create their own profiles using the platform's web and mobile versions. There is a catch, though - only the main profile/account can access features like Dating, Marketplace, Professional mode, and payments.

Additionally, the additional profiles can't support Messenger messaging, though Facebook is reportedly adding such in the coming months. Moreover, Facebook stated that while the profiles' names don't have to match users' actual names, they must follow Community Standards and policies for additional profiles.

As such, impersonators and users who misrepresent their identity will be penalized. How they will be penalized is still unclear.

How To Create And Switch Between Facebook Profiles

Creating and switching between Facebook profiles is easy. Facebook users, regardless of their preferred platform should follow the following steps:

Repeating this process will let you create additional profiles. To switch between profiles, Facebook users only need to follow these instructions:

  2. Click See all profiles.
  3. Select the profile you want to use.
