YouTube Music Uses AI to Create Playlist Art Among Other New Features

It's becoming more clear that AI will now be a major part of technology and various services. Apps are adopting AI so platforms would be easier to use and will run more efficiently. The same goes for YouTube Music as it uses AI to allow users to create their own playlist cover art.

YouTube Music and AI Art

When creating a playlist, the cover usually appears as a compilation of the album covers of songs on your playlist. It's also possible for users to upload their own image for a more personalized album cover if they choose to.

With the latest feature, YouTube Music now allows you to create album covers using generative AI. However, it's not like most AI tools where you can type a text prompt to generate an image. This can be accessed through the playlist's edit button.

After clicking on the main image, the app will provide several categories you can choose from such as travel, moods, animals, nature, and more. Upon choosing a category, a random selection of photos will appear, as reported by Engadget.

You will then be given a choice to choose art styles like Medieval Goth painting, Pop Art painting, and more. After choosing a theme, another and a more specific selection of photos will appear for you to choose from. Choose one and then click "save" to make the change.

The feature is still in the experimental stage and will be released for English language US users. YouTube Music is still working on the AI tools but it will eventually be rolled out to other countries and regions.

Other Features

Other than the AI art tool for playlist covers, the music streaming app is also releasing a new feature called speed dial, which allows users to immediately listen to the recent songs they have played, along with certain artists and playlists.

On top of that, YouTube is working on redesigning some parts of the app to make it easier for users to find the music they like. In the next months, YouTube Music will launch the new feature which can be found in the Home tab.

The app also aims to make the experience more personalized for its users by adding a music tuner. Through the tool, you'll be able to pick your favorite artists or bands from the provided list. There is even an option to choose what kind of artist variety you like between low to high.

In music discovery, you can choose to have YouTube Music suggest familiar music, a blend of the music you already know and are yet to find, or discover mode where the app will suggest music based on your listening history.

You can filter the kind of music that will be suggested by the steaming service by selecting what kind of music you like such as popular, new releases, chill, upbeat, focus, deep cuts, and more. After that, a personalized radio will be created for you to listen to.
