Kaitlyn Dever as Abby Anderson

Those who have played the games from the franchise already know what's coming for the second season, and they are also aware of just how important the casting for Abby is. The showrunners have finally decided who the actress will be, and most, if not all, are happy about the casting.

Kaitlyn Dever, known for her roles in movies such as "Booksmart" and "No One Will Save You," will play one of the perceived antagonists in the next season, Abby Anderson. For a significant and intense character, someone with experience in acting like Dever would do well.

She has already proven her range based on the films and TV shows she has been cast in, and she will need all that talent to bring such a character to life. With Dever's addition to the cast, the show will have more big-name actors in the lineup.

Amazingly, this is not the first time that Kaitlyn Dever was associated with the games. It's been almost a decade since she was fancasted to be Ellie, as those who played the game say that she looks similar to the protagonist, as mentioned in Screen Rant.

Bella Ramsey was the one who landed the role for Ellie, and she is doing an amazing job at it. Even if the "Game of Thrones" actress did not audition for the role, Dever would already be too old to play Ellie as a 14-year-old.

Abby, on the other hand, is right around Dever's age. Ellie's mortal enemy is older than her, which is part of why she is a dangerous enemy (not just because Abby is built like a tank). Some say that Kaitlyn Dever also shares a resemblance to Abby.

Hopefully, the actress who got the role can portray it in a way where fans can sympathize with Abby's actions, especially since fans of The Last of Us Part 2 did not exactly get the point of having Abby as a playable character and hated her.

Abby's Voice Actor Was Getting Death Threats

Kaitlyn Dever might have a bumpy road ahead once the second season is released. We have grown to love both Joel and Ellie in season one, so what will likely transpire in season two will break all our hearts, and in turn, make people resent who caused it.

The voice actor behind Abby in the game, Laura Bailey shared a post showing the hate she's getting from fans of the game who cannot distinguish the barriers between real life and fiction. Unfortunately, some were threats to both her life and her kid.

As shown in CBR, one message stated that the user would find where she lives and harm her for what she (Abby) did. Another wished misfortune upon her parents along with her child for something that she had no control over.
