Oppo Introduces Own LLM, AndesGPT

During the conference, Oppo highlighted that the glasses are powered by the company's own large language model (LLM) called AndesGPT. Using its AI system allows the company to equip its devices with a voice-activated assistant.

Oppo revealed that the AI feature is exclusively available in China. The company claimed that AndesGPT can " perform information searches and conduct conversations to assist users in tasks like planning travel."

The Chinese company has been prototyping assisted reality glasses for a while now and the Air Glass 3 symbolizes the third generation of the company's ideation. So far, none of the prototypes have reached the public market.

Oppo Air Glass 3 Prototype Specs

The Oppo Air Glass 3 is heavier in comparison with its predecessors, weighing 50g. The previous models used to weigh around 30g to 38g only. The glasses also have a self-developed resin waveguide that can eliminate rainbow effects.

The smart glasses also support entertainment and productivity features such as music playback, voice calls, image browsing, web searching, and more. In addition, Oppo also revealed that advanced features like navigation, timer, translation, teleprompter, and even health information will come in future software updates.

The Air Glass 3 would have to be connected to an Oppo smartphone with Color OS 13 and above, using the Air Glass App.

If Oppo's third-generation prototype makes it to the market, the company promised that it would be a "suitable hardware carrier for AI due to its nature features such as visual and voice interactions, to eventually become the best companions for smartphones in more scenarios."
