Samsung to unveil two Galaxy S6 models at MWC 2015, alongside new circular smartwatch

Samsung is expected to unveil two new Galaxy S6 smartphones and a round smartwatch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in March.

With CES 2015 out of the way and the MWC next in line, rumors regarding Samsung's plans for 2015 flagships are starting to intensify. The company is widely expected to unveil its next-generation flagship smartphone at the show, and recent rumors have also hinted at a new smartwatch with a round form factor. Recent reports have also indicated that Samsung may in fact unveil not one, but two Galaxy S6 smartphone models, and a new report from a reputable source now bolsters such claims.

According to Business Insider, Samsung has two Galaxy S6 flavors in tow - one with a metallic design, and the other with a curved display resembling that of the Galaxy Note Edge.

It remains unclear at this point, however, whether the metallic Galaxy S6 will boast a full-metal body or just a metallic frame around its edges. The Galaxy Alpha, for instance, was the first Samsung handset to launch with a stylish metal frame, while the company's Galaxy A series brought full-metal designs for the first time. If the new Galaxy S6 will follow the same design language of the Galaxy A series, it may sport a metal unibody design with a non-removable battery.

When it comes to Samsung's upcoming smartwatch, meanwhile, rumors hint at a circular design like that of the popular Moto 360 and LG G Watch R. Samsung has launched several smartwatches so far, but all of them come with rectangular form factors. The Moto 360 was the first one to sport a classical, round design, and LG followed suit with its G Watch R, stirring lots of interest among consumers. Samsung is reportedly ready to join the party with a circular smartwatch of its own, and the gadget may run Tizen OS rather than Google's Android Wear.

Samsung's Gear 2 and Gear Live smartwatches, for instance run Tizen and Android Wear, respectively, so the company should have a pretty good idea regarding what each OS has to bring to the wearable space.

The company has yet to offer any official details, however, so it all remains in the rumor state at this point. If Samsung does indeed plan to unveil new Galaxy S6 models and a circular smartwatch at MWC 2015, which this year takes place in March instead of February, more information should become available shortly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, but take everything with a grain of salt in the meantime.
