Samsung teaser image hints at curved Galaxy S Edge unveiling on March 1

Samsung is doing its own teasing ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, as the company just posted a "what's next" teaser for a March 1 event.

The rumor mill has been going into overdrive recently trying to anticipate what big companies have planned for the MWC 2015, and exciting new flagships are expected to make their debut at the show. Samsung has been among the stars of persistent rumors for a while now, as the company is expected to unveil at least one new high-end smartphone at MWC.

In fact, Samsung has been rumored to have a top-notch Galaxy S6 in the pipeline, as well as a curved-display variant that could launch as the Galaxy S Edge. The company pulled a similar scheme with its current flagship phablet, unveiling its Galaxy Note 4 alongside a curved-display Galaxy Note Edge, so the theory is not that farfetched.

While the Galaxy Note Edge has a curved display only on one side, however, reports indicated that the Galaxy S Edge may come with a dual-edge screen curved on both sides. None of this is confirmed just yet, but Samsung has now posted an intriguing teaser hinting at a curved-display Galaxy smartphone.

More specifically, Samsung posted a teaser image on Tuesday, Feb. 3, touting a March 1 Galaxy Unpacked event in Barcelona, Spain. The teaser image doesn't reveal much else, but it shows a shadowy profile for a device that looks quite curvy. The image is rather ambiguous, but that profile does bear a whopping resemblance to the right side of the Galaxy Note Egde, i.e. the side with the sleek curvature.

In other words, this teaser may show the shoadowy curved profile of the much-rumored Galaxy S Edge reports were hinting at. On the other hand, it remains unclear whether this curved-display handset will be a standalone device, launching alongside a regular Galaxy S6, or whether it will be the standard issue, arriving as Samsung's flagship smartphone for 2015.

Either way, it seems that it will all become official in less than a month, as Samsung will make its big announcement on March 1. HTC has a special event of its own scheduled for the same date, where it should announce its new One M9 flagship. Will Samsung steal HTC's thunder, or vice versa?
