LG G4 launch imminent: What to expect on April 28

LG is about to unveil its new-generation flagship smartphone on Tuesday, April 28, so here's what we (think we) know so far about the LG G4.

The company itself has done some teasing to boost excitement ahead of the big LG G4 launch, revealing the smartphone's display, camera, and other details. The rumor mill has also been busy as always, trying to paint a picture of what's to come. Based on the information that surfaced so far, be it directly from LG or from various reports, the LG G4 is expected to come as a real powerhouse.

We know stright from the source that the LG G4 will rock a 5.5-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, at a density of 538 pixels per inch (ppi). The display will use Advanced In-Cell technology, which means that it will be more sensitive and allow for a slimmer body.

Under the hood, things are less clear. Most expect the new LG G4 to pack a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor like other recent smartphones, including the LG G Flex 2. Some rumors, however, indicated that it may in fact come with the Snapdragon 808 processor instead, and the decision is reportedly related to the Snapdragon 810's overheating issues. Either way, the LG G4 should come with 3GB of RAM on board.

As previously mentioned, LG has also teased the main camera of its upcoming flagship. The company did not reveal much, but it did note that the LG G4 will feature an f/1.8 aperture that should deliver quality images even in low-light environments.

In terms of design, the next-generation LG G4 is expected to retain the overall form factor of its predecessor, but the new iteration will sport a real leather back. It remains unclear at this point whether the LG G4 will also make use of metal in its construction.

On the software side, the LG G4 will naturally rock the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, considering that it's a new-generation flagship smartphone. The LG G4 will also feature a neat user experience (UX), which the company itself teased a little while ago.

Lastly, the LG G4 should also come with the usual array of features such as Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, LTE, and it may also feature wireless charging (unconfirmed).

We'll be covering the LG G4 official unveiling on April 28 and bring you the latest news as soon as it's out, so stay tuned.
