LG G4c, G4 Stylus officially unveiled: Here’s what you need to know

The much-rumored LG G4c is now official, alongside a new LG G4 Stylus, both launching in the mid-range category of the smartphone market.

While the flagship LG G4 comes with high-end specs and features all around, with a price tag worthy of a top-notch smartphone, the new LG G4 Stylus and LG G4c aim to deliver a quality experience on a budget. Both new handsets come with mid-range specs on board, but aim to provide a premium smartphone experience.

"The G4 Stylus and G4c are perfect examples of what we mean by a premium smartphone experience without a premium price," Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said in a new press release on Tuesday, May 19. "We are committed to offering consumers in fast-growing markets LG devices that not only deliver performance, but also look good while doing so. Both the G4 Stylus and G4c will surpass customers' expectations of what an LG phone should be."

LG G4c specs

The much-rumored LG G4c has leaked on several occasions lately, expected to launch as a smaller version of the flagship LG G4, and the leaks were pretty accurate. The handset sports a 5-inch display with an HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels), a quad-core processor (unspecified model), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and microSD support for additional memory. Other specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, a 2,540 mAh battery (removable), and 4G LTE. The LG G4c will be available in Metallic Grey, Ceramic White, and Shiny Gold color options.

LG G4 Stylus specs

The LG G4 Stylus is basically a new variant of the LG G Stylo, and comes in two models - one with 4G LTE and the other with 3G connectivity. The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch display with an HD resolution (1280 x 720p), but a couple of specs vary between the 4G and 3G variants. The 4G model comes with a quad-core processor (unspecified), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, a stylus, and a 3,000 mAh battery (removable). The 3G model, meanwhile, packs an octa-core processor (unspecified), and an 8-megapixel rear camera. Otherwise, the specs remain unchanged from the 4G model. The LG G4 Stylus also comes with laser auto focus for its camera, and the handset will be available in Metallic Silver and Floral White color options.

On the software side, both the LG G4c and the G4 Stylus borrow some popular features from the flagship, including the much-touted Knock Code, Gesture Shot, and Glance View.

LG said it will release its new G4c and G4 Stylus handsets in "key strategic markets" in the weeks to come, but has yet to offer exact launch and pricing details. More information should come to light shortly, and we'll make sure to keep you posted.
