NBA Trade Rumors: Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins Joining LA Lakers in 2018?

Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins is rumored to be joining the LA Lakers in 2018. He still has a two year contract with the Kings but he will be free agent if he chooses not to extend his contract.

The rumor was fueled by tweet posted by Cousins, saying that the LA Lakers was his favorite basketball team when he was still a kid. However, Sacramento's GM, Vlade Divac could not emphasized enough that Cousins is staying, at least until his contract runs out.

The King's forward / center player for his part, seems to be contented with the team. Cousins however, did made some criticism with regards to some of the Sacramento's recent actions. There have also been earlier rumors that the Boston Celtics is willing to trade its choice draft picks if Sacramento is willing to give up Cousins to them.

The Sacramento Kings signed up DeMarcus Cousins in 2014. He will play with the Kings for four years receiving a total compensation of more than $65 million. The Kings are grappling several problems right now and the prospect of Cousins leaving the team is headache it would rather avoid.

Meanwhile, the LA Lakers would be more than willing to have star player like Cousins in their ranks. NBA observers believe that the Lakers will unlikely do well in the upcoming season. The Los Angeles team is still reassembling its player roster. Getting Cousins would not be cheap or easy. It would have to offer more than one of its players to get him, according to Sportsrageous.

The Kings may possibly say yes if the Lakers offer to trade the likes of Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russel or Brandon Ingram. For the moment, De Marcus Cousins is currently training with the Team USA, according to the Bleach Report. A YouTube video showed Cousins teasing fellow team mate Draymond Green over the accidental Snapchat photo.
