Why Apple Decided To Drop The iPhone 7 Pro

There have been some negative rumors spreading about the upcoming iPhone 7 series, despite no official word from Apple itself. While many have been putting the line down, there was the hope that Apple would release an iPhone 7 Pro, which would have been the first from Apple. It was supposed to be the most powerful handheld of the line and, ultimately, Apple.

Where Is The iPhone 7 Pro?

Unfortunately, a report from Forbes is claiming that the iPhone 7 Pro has been cancelled. Apparently, Apple decided that there would be no need for such, following the standard iPhone 7 and its more powerful partner, the iPhone 7 Plus.

The publication goes on to say that, initially, the Cupertino-based company only experimented with the idea of an iPhone Pro because it feared that the dual camera feature would not make it into enough iPhone 7 Plus units. However, these manufacturing constraints have since been fixed and the dual lens camera can now be comfortably fitted into the iPhone 7 Plus.

It then becomes obviously clear that the dual lens camera is a big thing for Apple and how the company wants this technology in its next offering. After all, Apple's competitors, which includes LG and Huawei, have already released handsets with this feature.

What Does This Means For Apple?

As Learn Bonds weighs in, the lack of an iPhone 7 Pro could be both beneficial and detrimental to Apple in the long run. Of course, fewer models means keeping the line simpler. Users have fewer options to confusingly choose from and there are less potential costs. On the other hand, a portion of the public was looking forward to the specs that were associated with a Pro handset, which included a 5.8-inch display with an OLED panel and a Smart Connector.

In addition, the drop of the iPhone 7 Pro makes things less exciting for the general public. That is, until the release of the iPhone 8, which is expected next year.
