PS4 Slim, PS 4 Neo To Launch This September: In-Depth Review Of What We Know So Far

Sony will introduce PlayStation 4 Slim and PlayStation 4 Neo on September 7 at the PlayStation Theater in New York to uphold the demand for the best-selling video game console.

The Wall Street Journal mentioned that the launch of the two new PlayStation models bring high hopes to Sony in its mission of persuading long time fans and occasional users to its videogame platform, thus creating a community of users.

Over the weekend, leaked images from an online auction site hit the internet showing the media and PS4 fans a peek of the redesigned PS4. According to Forbes, Eurogamer has validated that the console is real. Game writer, and author of the excellent Digital Foundry section at Eurogamer, Richard Leadbetter, visited the home of the person who leaked the PS4 Slim images and confirmed that the console is legit.

In a previous report by iTech Post, the leaked images display a slimmer version of the PS4 console with rounded corners. The latest PlayStation 4 Slim offers a 500GB hard drive that seems to be a European model based on the photos displayed on its packaging.

Meanwhile, PS4 Neo is arguably the most powerful and highly anticipated gaming console from Sony. Its features boasts a CPU of 8 Jaguar Cores (2.1 GHz), with an improved GPU (AMD GCN) and 36 CUs (911 MHz). As for its memory, it will have 8 GB GDDR5 218 GB/s. In addition PS4 Neo's main objective is to run 4K games smoothly, something that most gamers are looking forward to.

Analyst Hideki Yasuda of Ace Research Institute confirms that the approaching PlayStation 4 consoles are part of a grand plan meant to smooth the way for the October introduction of the PlayStation VR, the company's proprietary virtual reality headset.
