Pokemon Go players using iOS devices could use Poke Genie in computing their creature's individual value or IV. The iOS developer of the calculator assured trainers that using it will not result in a permaban or soft ban from Niantic.

How to use Poke Genie

1. The IV calculator will need a screenshot of the particular Pokemon. To do this, players simply have to hold the Sleep or Wake button of their iOS device. The said button can be found on either top or side of the smartphone or tablet.

2. Player will need to press and release the Home button instantly to take the screenshot.

3. To retrieve the screenshot, proceed to the Photo app, then album and finally tap Camera Roll.

The screenshot will then be imported to Poke Genie for IV analysis which will include the Pokemon creature's name as well as Combat Power (CP) and cost to Upgrade. So far testers are satisfied by the aps IV calculation, according to Pokemon Go Hub. It even computes the optimal IV combinations and displays it on-screen.

Poke Genie Safe from Niantic Ban

Many Pokemon Go players have grown wary of using third party apps like Poke Genie. Niantic has issued a lot of soft ban and permaban to players suspected of cheating in the game. Many third party users were also included in the ban.

The iOS app developers claimed that their work does not violate Niantic's Term of Service (TOS). Poke Genie gets all of its data from the screenshot and does not mess with the game's API. The developers also claimed that players don't even have to connect Poke Genie online to get the IV values of their Pokemon.

The Poke Genie iOS IV calculator is currently available at iTunes. Its developers also promised to update their app with the new Pokemon Appraisal sometime next week.
