How to Jailbreak iOS 6 beta with RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G [VIDEO]

It has not been even a week, when tech giant Apple released its next version of operating system, -- iOS 6 beta 1 firmware at the he WWDC 2012 in San Francisco. And here comes the good news for all the Apple developers -- from the the iPhone Dev Team. The team acted quite fast and has successfully jaibroken the new software. They have recently released a tethered jailbreak of iOS 6 for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G.

To explain it all, the iPhone Dev Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 for both Windows and Mac. This latest RedSn0w update is exclusively for jailbreak app developers, as it allows you to perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS 6.

The iPhone Dev Team has clearly emphasized in their blog post that casual unlockers should not try using this jailbreak since they "will very likely lose" their "unlockable baseband" if they attempt to install iOS6.

Further, they also have informed that Cydia has yet to be updated for the iOS 6 software development kit and thus it won't be available on the developers-only jailbreak for the time being.

"There are just too many broken components (Apple's official apps, 3rd-party App Store apps, Cydia apps, etc) for this to be useful to anyone but those truly looking to fix bugs in their iOS 6 jailbroken apps," the team wrote on its official blog.

Hence, if you are a developer and understand the limitations with this Jailbreak (being that Cydia will not be installed) and still wish to proceed, you can follow the steps below to Jailbreak your iOS device tethered on iOS 6 beta 1 with the RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1.

iOS 6 beta 1 Jailbreak RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1

Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 (Mac OS X)

Step 2: Once, you have downloaded RedSn0w0.9.13dev1 you will need to launch it by double clicking on the redsn0w app.

Step 3: With RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 up and running you will need to click the Extras button. You will now see a few buttons presented to you. The button you are interested in is the Select IPSW button. Click this now and select the iPod Touch 4G iOS 6 beta 1 firmware.

Step 4: Click back and Click jailbreak. Place your device into DFU mode.

Step 5: After clicking the Jailbreak button RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 will begin processing the iOS 6 beta 1 firmware. RedSn0w will prompt you to Install SSH. Make sure that option is checked, and click Next. The jailbreak will proceed until completion.

Note: Once on your Home screen, go back to RedSn0w and click Extras > Just boot. This will perform a tethered boot. You will need to place your device into DFU mode again to proceed.

  •  Hold down Power (corner) button for 5 seconds.
  •  Without releasing the Power button, also hold down the Home (bottom center) button along with the Power button for 10 seconds.
  •  Without releasing the home button, stop holding down the power button for up to 15 seconds.

Step 6:  After you successfully enter DFU mode RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 will begin jailbreaking the device. DO NOT interrupt or use the computer during this time.

Step 7: Once the tethered boot is completed, your device will go back to your Home screen. Congratulations, your device is now jailbroken. You can now use SSH, or another iPhone file navigation utility to browse the default file structure. This may allow you to install apps and tweaks manually if need be. Again, this is for advanced users only, as no GUI interface is there to help you through this process.

Further, you can also download RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 from here, and you can also check out the post from important warnings.

This jailbreak is only compatible with the following devices, and it is a tethered only jailbreak:
