Pokemon Go Update: Niantic TOS Reveals Pokemon Go Trading Rules

Pokemon Go developer Niantic has included Pokemon Go trading rules in its Terms of Service (TOS). This means that Niantic has already set the ground rules even before setting up the trading system in the game.

The particular part of the Niantic TOS includes provisions that cover what could be traded, trading place and rights of Pokemon Go trader. Here are some of the significant rules uncovered.

1. Pokemon Go players could trade items but not owned them

The TOS established that players are not the owners of the items being traded. Niantic rules said that players could only trade items taken from the game. Some are confused if the rule also covers items purchased with real money like PokeBalls.

2. Pokemon Go players can only trade at the official marketplace

Niantic clearly stated this rule in the TOS. Players are forbidden from trading through "third party platforms" unless of course the mobile game app developer has given an expressed permission. Observers doubt that Pokemon Go players can get a nod from Niantic. Most likely, international trades will be sponsored by big companies.

3. Pokemon Go Trading System prohibits the use of real world or virtual cash

Pokemon Go players are not allowed to trade items that can be converted into virtual or real world money. That means traders could not trade items for Poke Coins or Virtual game shop purchases. Observers are eager to see if this particular rule can be enforced effectively in Pokemon Go.

4. Pokemon creatures and even other items could be traded

Niantic has openly declared that all Pokemon creatures or characters are up for trade. The TOS also implicitly said that other items, probably Eggs and Potions could be traded as well.

Niantic has not set a specific date on when the Pokemon Go market trading system will start. But players could expect Niantic giving more specific trading rules in the days to come.
