Daydream VR: Aside From its Specs, What Does It Really Do?

The proliferation of VRs like Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR solidified the platform's popularity. Now a brand new device has been unveiled - the Daydream VR.

The newest headset is quickly gaining momentum as more users get ahold of its unique features. With its economical price that comes at $79, a cloth covering allowing more comfort and its undeniable utility, what can the latest VR really do?

What is Daydream VR?

Daydream VR simplifies access to virtual reality content on a mobile device, Pocket-Lint reported. As per publication, phones run by Android are labelled Daydream ready making them easily compatible to the headset.

Regular Apps Can be used in Daydream

No need to spend hundreds of dollars on an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headset to give virtual reality a try.

The Android handset is VR device on its own right when paired with Google's Daydream View. Regular phone applications such as RYOT, Jaunt VR and YouTube allow users to gain access on videos, documentaries and performances in a full 360" view.

Wearable reported that several apps including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Hulu, Netflix, HBO and Imax are bringing up their libraries available in Daydream View. Not only this, several sports carriers such as MLB and NBA have also signed up.

Daydream's Easy Access and Added Contents

At present, virtual reality content seems fragmented. It is available from all places but hardly accessible. Since other platforms only offer a limited amount of games/applications, Daydream Home allows users easier access to a wide variety of virtual reality apps. Over 47 apps are readily available in the headset.

When is Daydream's Release Date?

Daydream view and the Platform will be hitting stores in November 2016. In the U.S., the headset will be available in the Google Store, Verizon, Best Buy Storefronts and Carphone Warehouse U.K.
