'One Piece’ News And Update: Manga Gets A Holographic Anime in 2017; Is The Series Ending Soon?

"One Piece" manga gets its very own holographic anime in collaboration with DMM VR Theater. Fans can experience the hit anime with holographic technology in VR theater. It's the same technology used in virtual events and concerts. Meanwhile, Eiichiro Oda who seems to be too busy nowadays told the production team of the manga to be prepared to "die for it"

According to reports, the company is celebrating the new and exciting holographic project by screening "Mugiwara no Ichimi vs Kaigun vs Ōka Shichi Bukai Holographic Battle Theater Encore in Yokohama" from November 12 to December 11, 2016 so fans can have a taste of what to expect when "One Piece" holographic anime comes out next year. The screening is an updated version of the hologram used in 2014 so fans that have seen the show will enjoy re-watching it.

And then there is the news that "One Piece" manga series is coming to an end. In a recent interview with former manga editor Naoki Kawashima, she said she remembers Oda telling her to "Die for One Piece" which means she needs to be as dedicated as Oda is for the anime. Oda works on the storyline from Monday to Wednesday then starts drawing between Thursday and Saturday while Sunday is meant for all the color work needed. Although the schedule looks coordinated and balanced, it's not really as easy as it looks like especially for Oda.

Kotaku shares the creator barely has time to sleep and gives most of his time creating the manga. Earlier reports claim Oda sleeps for less than three hours a day and it has been like that for four years now. The manga creator sleeps at 2:00 AM and wakes up as early as 5:00 AM.

In previous reports, Oda estimates the series to end within five years but according to the series editor Suguru Sugita, the series is said to have reached 70 to 80 percent of the planned storyline. "Eiichiro Oda told me that the first part of the story, the part prior to the time-skip, was around halfway through. That was about 60 volumes, so maybe we're at 70 percent? I don't think it's at 80 percent yet." He explains.

Although exact timeframe was not given, this gives fans an estimate of how much time left the manga has.
