‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Jack Gleeson Almost Didn’t Get Role For Joffrey; Shares GoT Experience And Possible Spoilers At NYC Comic-Con

“Game of Thrones” star Jack Gleeson attended the New York Comic-Con 2016 and graced fans with his own panel as he addressed questions, shared his experience filming “Game of Thrones”, and even talked about fan theories.

Everyone who is familiar with the “Game of Thrones” series knows who Jack Gleeson is as he played the cruel young King Joffrey Baratheon in the said series. After his character was killed off in 2014, Jack Gleeson has decided to leave the major acting scene and put his attention on his theater company instead. Gleeson attended the NYC Comic-Con 2016 as a panel guest and was bombarded with interviews.

Jack Gleeson Shares Experience While Filming “Game of Thrones”

Jack Gleeson shared a lot of behind-the-scenes trivia about the “Game of Thrones” like how he almost did not get the role for Joffrey Baratheon since the filming of the series started at the time he was preparing for major school exams. But luckily, he shared that Dan Weiss and Dave Benioff, creators of “Game of Thrones” TV series, really wanted him for the part so they changed the filming schedule for him. Gleeson also admitted that he only read the first book of the “Game of Thrones” novels just so he can get to know Joffrey Baratheon’s character more.

Despite just reading the first book, Gleeson was already aware that his character was eventually going to die in the middle of the series because he looked it up on Wikipedia so he could gauge how long he was going to work for the production. He recalls that the most fun experience he had while shooting scenes for “Game of Thrones” was actually the scene that he died. He disclosed that he got to sleep the whole time during the funeral scene as his character was just there lying on his death bed.

Jack Gleeson Reveals Spoilers For "Game Of Thrones" Season 7?

Jack Gleeson could not evade questions regarding the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones” so the actor admitted that the does not watch the show because he couldn't catch up especially now that there are more characters and the story has gotten a lot more confusing. Gleeson also said that he only read his lines and scenes in the script.

Despite having no idea of what’s going on with the world of “Game of Thrones”, Gleeson has heard of fan theories and had actually agreed to one, which came off as a probable spoiler hinting what fans are going to see in the new season. The fan theory concluded that based on the title of the last book of the series, “A Dream of Spring," there will be a change in the ruling of Westeros and that the Iron Throne will be destroyed to signify this change, literally dissolving monarchy.

Jack Gleeson has played the role of Joffrey Baratheon in the American fantasy drama TV series “Game of Thrones” for four seasons. The TV series was adapted from George R. R. Martin’s novels. Season 7 of the TV series will be of the original script and will also be outlined from the novels, “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring”. “Game of Thrones” Season 7 is planned to air in mid-2017.
