‘Fifty Shades Darker’ News & Updates: Director James Foley Reveals Viewers Can Experience Film’s Scorching Hot Scenes Up-close Through Virtual Reality

As if the movie adaptation of the hit BDSM novel "Fifty Shades Darker" is not one of the most awaited films for 2017, director James Foley revealed that they will be using virtual reality for the upcoming film. He admitted that he sees VR as the future of filmmaking since it allows both the director and the actor to heighten the visual experience.

"Fifty Shades Darker" Movie Production

Based on Foley's statement, there was enough marketing material for behind-the-scenes. Although Foley revealed that there are VR people who take facsimiles to recreate a scene, he kept mum on specific details of the project.

While VR technology may be employed in some scenes, Deadline reports that there's a low probability that the upcoming film "Fifty Shades Darker" and the last movie in the trilogy "Fifty Shades Freed" will have any VR scenes. While referring to the transition to VR, Foley admitted that everything "needs to be reinvented" although he thinks that things are "travelling really fast."

"Fifty Shades" -The Story So Far

Picking up from the events of "Fifty Shades of Grey," the story of "Fifty Shades Darker" follows Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) as they delve deeper into the world of BDSM. The first trailer for the movie which was released in September promised more than what fans saw in "Fifty Shades of Grey."

The film is based on the bestselling novel by E.L. James with the same title. This time, Christian and Anastasia try to make their relationship work while exploring each other's deepest and darkest fantasies. It's bound to be another movie filled with steamy scenes, bondage, and interesting lovemaking. While the upcoming installment may not be shown in VR yet, there's still much to look forward to.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated for a pre-Valentine's Day release on Feb. 10, 2017, while the last installment in the series, "Fifty Shades Freed," would be out in February 2018.
