FIFA 13 – Lionel Messi Excluded From 5-Star Skills List, Again

As far as comparisons are concerned, both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi go head-to-head in real life. The upcoming "FIFA 13" from EA, however, has other plans. Per reports, the game will not credit Messi with 5-star skills rating, which is a shock for most football lovers.

Five game-changing innovations, which transform "artificial intelligence, dribbling, ball control and physical play", drive the gameplay of "FIFA 13". Back in "FIFA 11," Messi had an overall attribution of 90, with 5-star skills, playing in the RW (Right Wing) position. Other statistics included Acceleration: 94, Agility: 96, Balance: 86, Jumping: 64, Reactions: 89, Sprint Speed: 88, Stamina: 75, and Strength: 59.

With "FIFA 12," however, these statistics were slightly tweaked. Post the tweaks, the stylish Argentine no longer possesses the 5-star skills rating and despite boasting a superior overall of 95, playing in the same position, Messi has been downgraded to 4 stars. The new statistics for the Barcelona man in "FIFA 12" now read Acceleration: 94, Agility: 94, Balance: 95, Jumping: 73, Reactions: 95, Sprint Speed: 90, Stamina: 83, and Strength: 48.

Although Messi's full stats in "FIFA 13" are still unclear (some reports state an overall of 94, compared to Ronaldo's 92), the player has yet again failed to convince EA, the game's developers, that he deserves to be listed as a 5-star skill player.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, managed an overall of 89 and 92 in "FIFA 11" and "FIFA 12," respectively, playing in the same RW position as Messi. However, in both the editions, as well as in the upcoming "FIFA 13," the Real Madrid-based Portuguese star has managed to hold on to the 5-star skills ratings. The disparity in ratings has sparked off a debate as to which player, Ronaldo or Messi, is better and fans are divided in their opinion.

Some of the other players who have been given a 5-star rating are: Nani - Manchester United (85) - LM, Hatem Ben Arfa - Newcastle United (81) - RW, Adel Taarabt - QPR (78) - CAM, Oussama Assaidi - Liverpool (78) - LW, Lee Trundle - Preston (63) - ST, Franck Ribery - Bayern Munich (90) - LM, and Eljero Elia - Werder Bremen (77) - LM to name a few.

"FIFA 13" is set for a September 2012 release for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Portable, Microsoft Windows, and iOS.
