Facebook App Update Causes iPhone Crashes

It is reported that the latest Facebook app update released on Oct. 20 is causing iPhone crashes in some devices.

According to Tech Times, users of various iPhone models report that the latest update to the Facebook makes the smartphone reboot and then get stuck in the Apple logo. Apparently the crashes are happening following the download of the Facebook app update. No issues were reported when the Facebook app is open and being used.

The issue was first brought to public awareness by a tech support in an Apple Store. He declared that many customers have dropped by last week, all complaining about the same issue. The Apple tech support checked with five other Apple Stores reporting similar incidents, and they all involved crashes and stuck reboots happening after the iPhone users started to install the Facebook app update.

How To Fix It

According to Business Insider, on the Apple support forums there are several threads discussing the problem, as well as several  tweets on Twitter. From the reports of iPhone users, it seems that the issue has so far affected iPhone 6S and iPhone SE users.  Most of the tech experts recommend a fix that apparently could work for all users.

In case that after updating the Facebook app you are affected by the iPhone crash and stuck reboot issue, you can try to fix the problem by restoring the device using iTunes. In order to perform an iPhone restoration you will need to plug the iPhone through a USB cable into a Mac or PC with iTunes installed. You will be guided then by the software through the process of iPhone restoring process.

However, you should be aware of the fact that, unfortunately, this troubleshooting method might cause loss of certain data that have been stored on the iPhone such as pictures and other media files. In order to avoid this to happen you'll need to perform a cloud backup before trying this method.
