Mafia 3 Is The Fast Selling 2K Game In History; What Makes The Sequel Stand Out?

Mafia 3 copies sold globally reached about 4.5 million copies in the first week of its release. This is the first time for 2K Games that its game sold this fast because not even NBA 2K titles sold as much in that span.

Take-Two, the parent company of 2K Games, are very surprised but is very positive with how the retailers welcomed Mafia 3 and how fast the profits went up within its first week. The game even topped NBA 2K titles, Borderlands and BioShock franchises.

Mafia 3 has a great storyline and new characters but the gameplay seems a little bit off. However, players fans were still excited to get the game. Take-Two is very thankful that the character gave the game a new reason why players should buy and try it.

Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick explained that the edge of Mafia 3 is the race of Lincoln Clay. The developer was not sure at first if it will go on with Clay's race because of the racism issues but it seems that even a black guy could be a great character, in a report on Washington Post.

Mafia 3's Review By Take-Two

In a report on Game Spot, Mafia 3's record even topped the other internal division of the parent company, Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V that earned about $800 million within 24 hours. But even if the latest game sell like hotcakes, the scoring of the game is a little low compared to other games by the developer.

"In terms of the reviews and scores, it was sort of an odd anomaly. The scores were lower than we would have liked. But there are a lot of stellar reviews. I think the most prominent reviewers really loved it and recognized that what we're doing here, from the story, art, character, and excitement perspective is really unmatched in the marketplace," Zelnick said.

Mafia 3 might be the top-selling game worldwide but the gameplay is not as good as what fans are hoping for. Thanks to Lincoln Clay, the character will give a new story of the latest game and eventually, the players will embrace Clay's character.
