Samsung Flip Phone 2016 Now Official: 4K Video Recording, Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM Included

Just about a year after Samsung unveiled its high-end flip phone, the company is once again introducing a new flip Android phone. A successor to the W2016, the W2017 is now officially announced in China. Just like last year's release, the new Android flip phone is packed with top-tier specs that are pretty much as competent as all non-flip smartphones.

Samsung Flip Phone W2017 Specs

The W2017 is powered by one of the most powerful Snapdragon processors of 2016 which is the Snapdragon 820. It is also packed with a sufficient 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The W2017 is also equipped with a microSD slot for storage expansion. Since this phone is a flip-phone, it has to have two screens.

As per GSM Arena, the W2017 comes with two 4.2 inch 1080p touchscreens that are located outside and inside the flip-phone. On top of these amazing features, the new Samsung phone also boasts of a 12 MP primary camera that's capable of recording 4K videos. It then comes with a 5 MP front camera and a sufficient 2300 mAh battery.

If these aren't enough to wow you, the W2017 flip phone also has a fingerprint scanner, quick-charge feature and Always On Display feature. Even for a Marshmallow-running 2016 device, the W2017 isn't so bad at all. Nevertheless, global release isn't guaranteed. Sam Mobile says that the W2017 is unlikely to ever reach other markets.

Samsung Flip Phone W2017 Release

The W2017 is expected to get its China release very soon. Basing on what happened with last year's flip phone, Samsung might be confining the W2017 in the Chinese market alone. This may or may not be good news for people outside the target market. It's worth noting that despite the flip-phone style being a thing of the past, the W2017 could sell with a $2900 price tag.
