Next Street Fighter 5 DLC Is Bringing Akuma; Watch Out For Him Next Month

One of the major characters of the Street Fighter franchise will be coming back to the latest Street Fighter title. Akuma the demon will be added as the seventh add-on character for Street Fighter 5.

Surprise Teaser Reveals Akuma For Street Fighter 5 At Capcom Pro Tour

Akuma was revealed at the end of the Capcom Pro Tour North American finals at Red Bull Battle Grounds in Seattle, Washington this weekend. The new teaser trailer shows a glowing silhouette of his trademark "Raging Demon" attack and a glimpse of the huge kanji scrawled at the back of his gi, along with a background of a new rainy stage. The final part of the trailer informs that Akuma will be made playable on the upcoming PlayStation Experience at Anaheim Convention Center In Dec. 3 to 4, 2016.

Different Kanji From Teaser Hinting Shin Akuma Appearance?

Since the reveal of Akuma from the trailer, Street Fighter fans have been decoding what the new glowing kanji emblazoned on the back of the demon character meant, as this might allude to how the character will perform at Street Fighter 5. Based on a forum in EventHubs, the new kanji behind the back of Akuma translates to "god" above "man" or according to them, it is more accurately translated as "god-like." With the introduced V-Trigger activation mechanic of Street Fighter 5 which changes the properties of a character in a different way, this led them to theorize that Akuma might transform to Shin Akuma, another Street Fighter character based from Akuma which debuted in Street Fighter Alpha 2.

The forum also took notice to the same kanji draped in black beside the Red Bull stage during the Capcom Pro Tour. Take note that this is just pure speculation as of this moment. The resurgence of Akuma to the roster of Street Fighter 5 might boost the morale of fans and Capcom for the game after gaining poor reception from players.
