GTA 6 has been in the rumor mill for quite some time now. Its official release date, though, is yet to be confirmed or announced. And fans, in one way or another, are still waiting for Rockstar Games to reveal its arrival. New talks have surfaced, nonetheless, speculating that the title will be announced sometime in 2018.
There are rumors about the studio already developing GTA 6. If Rockstar North is focused on the latter, Rockstar San Diego is assigned to Red Dead Redemption 2 -- the newly announced sequel. The only catch, however, is that the video game company has yet to announce the supposed sixth installment.
Whether this is true or not, the most interesting part to know is when will Rockstar announce GTA 6. According to MOBIPicker, the most feasible release window could be in 2018. Or perhaps, to give an allowance, it'll be around 2019.
The speculation about GTA 6 rooted from the studio's way of releasing Grand Theft Auto titles. In 2008, GTA 4 was launched. It took the developers 5 years or so to complete it. And after which, GTA 5 was unleashed. Based on this figure, the common denominator is 5 (being the interval). So, in a sense, players might be introduced to the new installment around 2018 or later.
As vague as its release date, the features of GTA 6 also remain unknown. There are talks, though, that the map it'll bring will be a bit bigger compared to Los Santos. But of course, this will mean a lot of work on the developers' side. It's synonymous to optimizing the engine that'll be used and/or making sure that the game just runs as smoothly as possible.
Moreover, Rockstar has to consider the fact that GTA 6 might be released along with the arrival of powerful consoles. These are hardware capable of ramping the graphic system up, giving it a reach to 4K gaming. Nevertheless, the video game company still has a good amount of time to work things out for the game -- if they're to consider unleashing it 2 years from now.
