NASA News: See The Perfect Space Suit Design For Future Mars People

If Mars One sticks to its original schedule, then we should see a group of people departing to Mars starting in the year 2026. But Mars One, a company from Netherlands, is not alone in this competition. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, declared his company plans on sending unmanned vessels to the Red Planet in 2018, while NASA states that the first manned mission to Mars has been scheduled for 2030.

The Perfect Space Suit Design For Future Mars People

Aside from the year of planned mission to the Red Planet, NASA also revealed some of the basic information regading the perfect space suit design for future Mars people. According to Physics-Astornomy, NASA has provided another insight into its awesome mission to Mars, and that is, the prototype of what astronauts will be wearing when they touch down Mars for the first time.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration revealed its initial images of the Z-2 spacesuit advanced prototype just last month and it seems a lot more modern than the white extravehicular mobility unit that astronauts are currently using. The spacesuit named Z-2 are basically designed to allow astronauts to explore a foreign planet like Mars. Here is what it looks like from the front view:

According to NASA, "The design also utilizes 3D human laser scans and 3D-printed hardware. Ultimately, this means that each suit will be a near perfect fit for the wearer, relatively speaking. The new design has a hard composite upper torso, which provides the much-needed long-term durability that a planetary EVA suit will require."

NASA Recruiting Astronauts

NASA has also started recruiting astronauts for this mission job. As reported by Inquirer.net, Mars has always held a special place in NASA’s heart when it comes to space exploration. From pilots, to doctors, to teachers, and possibly even farmers in the future, NASA is on the lookout for explorers brave and qualified enough to become astronauts on Mars.
