Apple’s New MacBook Pro: Speaker Grilles Are Purely Cosmetic

With the new MacBook Pro now shipping out to customers, iFixit on the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and have disassembled it and accomplished their standard teardown. There are pretty a few variations between this model and the more affordable 13-inch 2016 MacBook Pro that retains standard keys; teardown for a model.

The Speaker Grilles Are Largely Cosmetic, Revealed by iFix

The new 2016 MacBook Pro's do feature higher audio system however the grilles on the left and proper of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar do not appear to assist in any way. As proven in the photos, the speakers are indicated in orange and the grills are indicated in red. The audio system is in the decrease half off of the case whereas the grilles are located above. iFixit says the grille doesn't even go clear through the case which leads them to believe the grilles are merely cosmetic. It appears the new audio system push their extended sound thru the vents on the aspect of the machine.

There is a range of issues with Apple's new MacBook Pros, includes port selection, Touch Bar function, and battery life. But despite all of the range of controversies, all people seems to be able to agree that the upgraded speakers are great.
Much of the internal layout has been adjusted to accommodate the inclusion of the Touch Bar. Apple's brand new laptop computer scores just 1/10 for repairability as Touch Bar is hard to change and the battery is glued into the case.
Reviews Have Found That Apple Has Indeed Improved The Speakers

For now, iFixit has solely posted its teardown of the 13-inch model, so we'll have to wait until someone disassembles one of the new 15-inch Pros to see if it carries across the whole product line. Moreover, whether the grilles are authentic or fake, most significantly is that the new MacBook Pro nonetheless still sounds great.
