Ford Sets New World Record For Largest Flag Pulled By A Moving Vehicle

Ford has just beaten the record that was set by Chevrolet seven weeks ago. The stunt was for a Guinness World Record named 'Largest Banner Flown By A Vehicle" and was done on November 19. To qualify, a vehicle will tow a flag or banner and it needs to be completely off the ground. The size of the flag and length off the ground are both factors to be able to set the world record.

Chevrolets Previous Guinness World Record

Prior to November 19, car brand Chevrolet was successful in pulling a massive American flag that measures 40 by 80 feet for over 100 meters. They attached the flag and drove it to a 2017 Chevy Silverado HD that houses a 6.6Liter Turbo Diesel V8 engine that puts out 445horse power and 910 pound-feet of torque. However, that success was easily taken from them when Ford recently attempted to beat the record.

Ford Steals The Spotlight From Chevy

Just a few weeks after Chevy's big success, Ford Motors took the challenge and easily dethroned their muscle car rival. Using their previously awarded Truck of the Year, the 2017 Ford F-450 Super Duty that packs 440horse power and 926 pound-feet of torque with its 6.7liter Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 engine. The bigger American flag they used measures at 45 by 92 feet. Ford was able to increase the record by up to 1000 square feet in distance compared to the previous record.

The Ford And Chevy Rivalry Goes Way Back

Both car manufacturers have been rivals for decades with their trucks and muscle cars. Both companies have shown that their vehicles are more than capable of just being daily drivers and can do so much more. Chevy might not wait very long for another attempt for the world record and win back the crown that they once held.
