Meizu M3X And Meizu Pro 6 Plus: Specs, Features, Price; A Must Have?

Christmas this year for tech enthusiasts is looking good so far. The long awaited Meizu M3X and Meizu Pro 6 Plus has been finally unveiled. Here are all the things that you need to know about the two smartphones:

About the Meizu M3X

The Meizu M3X was announced in November. It is expected to be released this December (first or second week). The expected prices of this device are 32 GB Rs 16, 990 ($248) and 64 GB Rs. 19,990 ($292).

About the Meizu Pro 6 Plus

According to the reports, this is said to be the flagship phone. This device was announced in November. It is expected to be released this along with the Meizu M3X. The expected prices of this device are 64 GB Rs. 29,890 ($436) and 128 GB Rs. 32, 890 ($480).

Specs and Features

Network. For the Meizu M3X, networks are GSM, HSPA, and LTE. While the Meizu Pro 6 Plus networks are GSM, HSPA, EVDO, and LTE. Well, given that the Meizu Pro 6 Plus is the flagship, it's no wonder that it will have more network options.

Body. Body dimension of the Meizu M3X is 153.8 x 76 x 7.4 mm and body weight is 165g. Body dimension of the Meizu Pro 6 Plus is 155.6 x 77.3 x 7.3 mm and body weight is 158g. To be honest, I was surprised that the Meizu Pro 6 Plus weighs less, given that it larger.

Display. Display type of the Meizu M3X is IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, display size is 5.5 inches, and display resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels. For the Meizu Pro 6 Plus, display type is Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, display size is 5.7 inches, and display resolution is 1440 x 2560 pixels. I got to say, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus seems pretty sweet.

Platform. OS of the Meizu M3X is Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow). Its chipset is Mediatek MT6757 Helio P20.The CPU is Octa-core (4x2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.6 GHz Cortex-A53). And the GPU is Mali-T880MP2.

As for the Meizu Pro 6 Plus, OS is Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow). The chipset is Exynos 8890 Octa. About its CPU, is has two: Octa-core (4x2.0 GHz Mongoose & 4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53) for 64 GB version and Octa-core (4x2.3 GHz Mongoose & 4x1.6 GHz Cortex-A53) - 128 GB version for the 128 GB. Also for its GPU, it has two: Mali-T880 MP10 for the 64 GB version and Mali-T880 MP12 for the 128 GB version.

Memory. Internal memory of the Meizu M3X are 32 GB with 3 GB RAM and 64 GB with 4 GB RAM. On the other hand, internal memory of the Meizu Pro 6 Plus is 64/128 GB with 4 GB RAM. To be honest, I was expecting the Meizu Pro 6 Plus to have 6 GB RAM. Well, at least it still is a powerful phone.

Camera. For the Meizu M3X, primary camera is 12 MP. The secondary camera is 5 MP. And lastly, the video recording is 1080p@30fps.

Battery. Meizu M3X's battery is a non-removable Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery. While the Meizu Pro 6 Plus' battery is Non-removable 3400 mAh battery. About their stand-by time, talk time, and music play, there is not information about it for now.

Features.  Some of the features of the Meizu M3X are fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and fast-battery charging. While the Meizu Pro 6 Plus are fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, heart rate, and fast charging. Personally, I think it's great that the latest upcoming Meizu phones have a fast-charging feature. It really helps save a lot time for people like me who plays mobile games from time-to-time.

Should You Have Either of the Two?

Given that Chinese phone brands are gaining popularity right now, I think I will definitely buy one. Though the popular choice is to choose the flagship phone - Meizu Pro 6 Plus, I will choose the Meizu M3X instead. Well, Chipset, CPU, and GPU aside, both OS and RAMs are the same if you choose the 64GB version of the Meizu M3X.

As a person who loves to play mobile games from time-to-time, the Meizu M3X fits both worlds - budget and smooth gaming. Well, this is my opinion. With all that's been said, I think the latest Meizu phones are worth having if you're looking to buy a new phone this December.
