The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could soon receive the much awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update. A new leak shows that Samsung may be testing a Galaxy Note 5 Nougat firmware internally.
At the moment, Samsung is working on polishing the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Nougat update for public release. The company recently started the beta program for Android 7.0 on the S7 and S7 Edge. Users have already received several betas and the update is almost ready for the public.
Galaxy Note 5 Android 7.0 Nougat
Samsung has promised to deliver the Nougat update to the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5. An exact time frame of when the update will be available is not known. However, a Galaxy Note 5 running Android 7.0 was spotted earlier on GFXBench. SamMobile spotted the firmware and believes that it is real.
It has been rumored that the Galaxy Note 5 will inherit the Grace UX from the deceased Note 7. This interface is much smoother and better than the TouchWiz UI found on the Note 5. An upgrade to Android 7.0 and Grace UX should make the smartphone better. This, according to BGR, should make it more desirable to customers looking to buy a powerful phablet.
Recently, a Samsung Galaxy S6 was also seen on the website running Android 7.0. This shows that Samsung is testing a build at their labs, but when will it be available?
Note 5 Android 7.0 Release Date
There is no telling when Samsung will release the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat firmware to beta testers or the public. Seeing as a beta test for the S7 and S7 Edge is currently in progress, the Note 5 beta may arrive in late December or early January.
A full scale public release may only happen in February 2017, but that is only speculation. Samsung could speed up the process and deliver it sooner, although the company is not known for that.
