'The Young And The Restless' Cast News: Sharon Case Hints Michael Muhney Comeback; Sally Sussman Considering Adam's Return?

Last month, Michael Muhney's social media posts riled up fans about his possible return on "The Young and the Restless" as Adam Hartley. Now it is Y&R regular Sharon Case who seems to be dropping hints of the actor's possible comeback in Genoa City on her Instagram account. Meanwhile, the soap's new head writer, Sally Sussman might also be considering Michael Muhney's comeback to tie loose ends with regard to Adam's character.

Case posted an old photo of herself with Muhney on Instagram along with the caption, "So many tweets and IG comments lately about#adamnewman #michaelmuhney #shadam. Here is a fun flashback Shadam pic." Fans took the post as a hint of the actor's return to the CBS daytime soap.

Another report said that "The Young and the Restless" head writer Sally Sussman is considering the actor's return. In an interview, Sussman said she doesn't see a need for Adam's recast and the character is off the show. However, her next statement intrigued fans. "Unless there is a compelling reason to have Nick learn the truth," Sussman said with a wink to the audience.

Adam's character was supposedly killed off due to an explosion in a cabin where he was last seen unconscious after Chloe him with a dart gun. Later DNA results proved that Adam was killed in the blast but that doesn't eliminate the possibility that he was saved by some heroine somewhere and currently in hiding.

Muhney took the role of Adam in "The Young and the Restless" starting 2009 before he was abruptly dismissed in January 2014. His departure was rumored to be caused by a sexual harassment issue with co-star Hunter King who plays the role of Summer Newman, but there was no official comment from the staff. Muhney's speculated return might coincide with King's departure on the daytime show. The actress was dropped from regular to recurring character in "The Young and the Restless" after she was promoted as a regular cast on CBS sitcom "Life in Pieces."

"The Young and the Restless" airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
