Samsung Galaxy S4 And S4 Mini: Unveiled Together?

Samsung plans to unveil the much anticipated Galaxy S4 on Thursday March 14 at an event in Times Square. But what about the S4 mini?

A Galaxy S4 mini shouldn't really be in doubt, given that we saw the Galaxy S3 mini launch just a few months after the S3 itself. But we still don't know when the S4 mini, or the S4 itself for that matter, will launch. Will Samsung unveil the mini alongside the S4 at the March 14 event? Here's what we know so far.

On February 12, Android Authority stated that the S4 mini was reportedly confirmed. The site also stated that the device was part of a "Project J family" that included not only the mini and the regular S4 but also a wearable gadget, possibly a smartwatch. Just two days later the site reported that the mini device will likely see a May release, coming about two months after the S4 launch event. The News Tribe reported similar information on Feb. 18, stating that the device would likely be released in May on the 21st week of 2013.

But will the S4 mini appear at Samsung's launch event, and will it be released alongside the regular S4? It's looking like the answer is no, and we'll tell you why.

To begin with, the S4 mini will require more time to manufacture, which will probably delay its unveiling and release date. Second, an unveiling of the mini would draw attention away from the S4, potentially draining sales of the device. Lastly, it seems that Samsung would probably stick to its strategy with the S3 mini, whereby the product wasn't released until well after the original device.

No viable information on the S4 mini is out right now, but here are some expected features, according to International Business Times:

4.3 inch screen with 720 HD display

16 GB and 32 GB storage capacity

Rear 8 mega pixel camera and 2 mega pixel front camera

Wi Fi, 3G and 4G LTE support

NFC (Near Field Communication)

What do you think? Will Samsung unveil the mini alongside the Galaxy S4 next week?
