Westworld fans be don’t be sad. The initial Season might be over but we should prepare ourselves for Season 2. The producers are pushing Season 2 to be aired by 2018. However, they might air it earlier than what was normally planned.

All About Westworld

Westworld is not your usual science fiction television series. The series was based on the 1973 film of the same name. It was then recreated by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy for HBO. They are joined by some of the notable names in the industry such as J.J Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk. Their production staff are seasoned veteran already and they were expected to deliver in their series premier. Well, they did live to the hype and expectation from the fans.

The series debut of Westworld reportedly garnered the highest viewership ratings for a premiere since the first episode of True Detective in 2014. Yes, HBO Network struck gold with Westworld. The first season premiered last October 2, 2016 which ended on December 4, 2016. The series contains a total of 10 must see episodes and was able to compete with other TV series.

Westworld Season 2

As mentioned, the series ended already last saturday but prior to ending the show, they already renewed their contract for season 2. As per reports, Westworld Season 2 will be released on 2018. This was the original plan of the team but it would be no surprise that they might show it earlier than expected. In a TV series, it is a must to follow up a successful season immediately. The reason behind is, the viewers has the tendency to watch another series if they get tired of waiting for the new episodes to be released. Nevertheless, we all know that the production team is capable of outdoing themselves but they really have to think twice about their release dates.

Critical Response From Viewers

Westworld received positive reviews from the critics and its viewers. They were amazed with the visuals, acting and the storytelling. A notable site also hailed them as a series to look out for. "With an impressive level of quality that honors its source material, the brilliantly addictive Westworld balances intelligent, enthralling drama against outright insanity,” as stated by Rotten Tomatoes.

TV Guide also recognizes Westworlds creativity. They listed Westworld fifth among the top ten picks of most anticipated show for 2016-2017. Metacritic was the only site that didn’t really appreciate Westworld. Based on their reviews, 74 out of 100 like Westworld and indicating it as “generally favorable” by the viewers. Lastly, a respected writer, Tim Surette said, "Well, Westworld has both, ensuring that it will be an exciting mashup of genres that will disrupt a television landscape that typically says we can only have one or the other” He emphasized on how they were able to blend the western premise into a futuristic setting.

Right now, the only thing that is guaranteed is its soundtrack. Just five days after the series ended, they already released the soundtrack for season 2. It then started a buzz that maybe, they are just playing around with their release date of 2018.
