Lenovo Phab 2 Pro vs Google Pixel: Which Is Better?

The price of the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is $733.33 (64 GB, 4 GB RAM). It was announced last June and was released in November. The Google Pixel's prices are $649 (32 GB, 4 GB RAM) and $749 (128 GB, 4 GB RAM). It was announced last October and released ion the same month.

Design

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro's body dimensions are 7.08 x 3.49 x 0.42 in. The body weight is 259 g. Its color casings come in with the colors gunmetal gray and champagne gold.

The Google Pixel's body dimensions are 5.66 x 2.74 x 0.33 in. The body weight is 143g. Its color casings come in with the colors quite black, deep silver, and really blue.

Personally, I don't like heavy phones, but I like large phones for gaming and watching videos. Given that the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is quite large, I will base the two phones on its proportions. I will give this round to the Google Pixel.

Display

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro's display type is IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen (16M colors). The display size is 6.4 inches with a display resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It has no protection for its screen.

The Google Pixel's display type is AMOLED capacitive touchscreen (16M colors). The display size is 5.0 inches and with a display resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Its screen is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Well, 6.4 inches and 5.0 inches is a big gap. Though I like big screens, I also have a thing for OLED and AMOLED display, because it feels more sophisticated for me. But still, in the end, I think I like big screens more. I will give this round to the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro.

Platform

The OS of the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow). It is powered by the Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652. The CPU is Octa-core (4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4x1.4 GHz Cortex-A53) and the GPU is Adreno 510.

For the Google Pixel, its OS is Android OS, v7.1 (Nougat). The chipset powering it is a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821. The CPU is Quad-core (2x2.15 GHz Kryo & 2x1.6 GHz Kryo) and GPU is Adreno 530.

To be honest, I was surprised. The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is being overpowered here for this round. I will give this round to Google Pixel.

Camera

The primary camera for the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is 16 MP. The secondary camera is 8 MP. The video is 1080p@30fps. It also has some special camera sensors for its Tango experience, but I will base it at the feature round.

On the other hand, the Google Pixel's primary camera is 12.3 MP. Its secondary camera is 8 MP. Its videos are 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps and 720p@240fps.

One issue I have about the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is that it does not shoot 4k videos even though it has a crazy high-end camera. But aside from that, I think the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro's camera specs are great. This round goes to the Phab 2 Pro.

Features

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is the first phone to ever feature augmented reality or Google's Tango technology. On the other hand, the Google Pixel features virtual reality but needs the Google Daydream VR to be able to use it. I will give this round to the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro.

The Verdict

The tally is the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro with 3 wins and the Google Pixel with 2 wins. If we add the price on the equation, that added win will go to the Lenovo. Why? The Phab 2 Pro 64 GB is being sold at $733.33, while the Google Pixel's 32 GB is being sold at $649. So, there you have it. I personally think that the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is the better phone.
