Battlefield 1: Is Model 10-A Still Viable?

Following the latest Battlefield 1 patch update, most players are still lamenting from the nerfs on primary weapons such as the 10-A Hunter, Factory and the Martini-Henry. Now that the dust has settled, let's take a look at the current state of 10-A Hunter and if it's still viable in the game.

Model 10-A Nerf

There's reason for the popularity of Model 10-A shotguns in Battlefield 1 and that stems from their ability to 1-shot targets from a farther range compared from the other shotguns. Because of this, a lot of people preferred these weapons over the others - making DICE addressed the noticeable disparity between Model 10-A from the others; buffing M97 Trench gun by adding extra pellets to all variants and also increased the accuracy of 12g Automatic all the while nerfing the beloved Model 10-A variants. According to DICE, this will help "even out" the advantages and disadvantages of the various shotguns.

The Actual Nerf on Model 10-A

A Reddit thread shows the current state of Model 10-A and the perspective of the many with regards to the current state of Model 10-A. To cut it short, the shotgun did in fact, had a significant change when it comes to its overall damage output particularly when you're shooting a target above 16 meters.

According to one user, the previous Model 10-A can OHK a target within 16-21 meters but now, the maximum OHK of the shotgun is only within 16 meters range. The damage calculation for the shotgun was measured using Symthic which you can see here.

Is Model 10-A Still Viable?

The answer is definitely yes! Battlefield 1 Model 10-A is still very hot despite its reduced OHK range as it can still obliterate your opponent fairly easily. Plus, DICE also improved the crosshairs on all shotguns which makes it even easier to hit with the Model 10-A in the current patch. It's safe to say that between Martini-Henry and Model 10-A nerfs, the former was far more affected than the latter.
