‘Making A Murderer’ Season 2 News, Updates: 2017 Release Date To Coincide With Steven Avery’s Appeal? New Evidence And Confessions Revealed

A year after the Netflix documentary series "Making a Murderer" was released, the case against Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey gained national attention. The story which examines the evidence in the 2005 case involving the rape and the murder of Teresa Halbach continues to be a source of intrigue especially now that there is a chance that Avery and Dassey will make his way out of prison.

Steven Avery And Brendan Dassey's Conviction

The latest news reveals that there is new DNA evidence that could help in proving that Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey are innocent. The decision for convicting Dassey was overturned by a judge in August who ruled that the confession made by the boy admitting Halbach's murder is involuntary. His release was ordered in November but the state attorney's office filed an appeal and Dassey will not be released until the appeal is reviewed. These new developments will definitely be included in season 2 of "Making a Murderer."

In 2016, Avery decided to hire Kathleen Zellner, a lawyer who specializes in wrongful convictions. Avery's new lawyers issued a statement that she has a list of suspects behind Halbach's murder. She added that there is also new forensic evidence that could help the suspects walk free.

"Making a Murderer" Season 2

Back in July 2016, showrunners Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi announced that they are already preparing the episodes for a second season. A trusted media outlet, TV Guide, interviewed Netflix about the release date for the documentary series. The spokesperson for the streaming giant merely remarked that as of the moment, there is no scheduled release date although there is a wealth of material that the creators can use in "Making a Murderer" season 2.

There are speculations that the series will release the second installment to coincide with Zellner's appeal. "Making a Murderer" may have brought attention to Halbach's case but it has also been greeted with criticism from all sides. Jodi Stachowski, Avery's former flame, said in one interview that the show has a lot of inaccuracies and she believes that Avery is guilty.

"Making a Murderer" is available to stream on demand on Netflix.
