Square Enix Urges 'Final Fantasy XV' Players To Watch 'Kingsglaive' And 'Brotherhood' For Context

Square Enix has recently released the latest installment of the “Final Fantasy” video game series. It has not been a month yet since “Final Fantasy XV” was finally released and it's still making headlines as avid gamers and fans of the series continue to enjoy it.

'Final Fantasy XV' Video Game Will Focus On Gameplay

One of the particular thing that some gamers have pointed out about “Final Fantasy XV” is the lack of story. Hajime Tabata, director of the said video game, has announced months before the official release of “Final Fantasy XV” that it will not ponder on the story of the game. Along with Square Enix, they have further emphasized that they will be focusing on the gameplay instead.

True to their word, the latest “Final Fantasy” video game boasts of challenging gameplay coupled with countless quests and a whole new immersive world that players can explore. Unsatisfied, and of course addressing the complaints from players all over the world, Square Enix has announced that it will release more new features that will enhance the gaming experience. With updates expected to roll in, some fans have cried for more depth in the story.

That is where the “Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV” and “Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV” come in. When Tabata assured fans of a promising gameplay, it did not mean that the story of the video game will be compromised. In fact, to make up for the story, Square Enix has ventured into making productions that focused on the other stories and events related to the video game. Furthermore, Square Enix realized that "Final Fantasy XV" had such a broad story that it could actually expand into other games but instead opted to create additional media to support the video game just like how it was with the compilation of "Final Fantasy VII".

Reasons Why "Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV" And "Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV" Matter

“Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV” and “Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV” were released prior to the official launching of the video game. They provided in-depth back stories to the main characters as well as explanations as to why the video game is set in such events. Square Enix has urged players to watch these titles before or even after playing the game to gain context of the story and to understand the characters more.

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV” is an animated series composed of five episodes, which was released on the video game’s official YouTube channel and was also made available for free streaming on Crunchyroll. The said series ran from March up to September 2016. The series revolved around the journey of the four main male characters namely Noctis Lucis Caelum, Gladiolus Amicitia, Prompto Argentum, and Ignis Scientia.

“Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV” on the other hand focused on the supporting characters in the game. It showed the other sides of the story, which are the events that took place while Noctis and his party set off on their road trip. The part where the king’s death was revealed in the video game is actually highlighted in this movie. Aside from Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, the other main characters in this animated movie where the story revolved in are not part of the video game. Based on the title of the film, it focuses on a group of young heroes who are part of the elite Kingsglaive in their quest to protect the kingdom the invasion of the empire by saving the king and the oracle.
