Pokemon GO was reportedly able to claim the tenth spot for the Best Games of 2016. It has been noted that the Pokken Tournament was also able to join the list while EA topped the charts with Doom. In the meantime, a Pokemon GO christmas event is also expected to begin on Dec. 23, 2016.
Doom is the Best Game of This Year
Pokemon GO reportedly barely made it to the list. In contrast, Electronic Arts reportedly claimed the top two spots for the Best Game of 2016. It should be noted that Titanfall 2 was the second most played game this year. The first person-shooter game that was launched in February called Superhot was also revealed in the third spot.
Beating Pokemon GO in the fourth and fifth spots were Forza Horizon 3 from Playground Games and Overwatch from Blizzard Entertainment. Halfway through the year, Nintendo Australia also published a game called Fire Emblem Fates that took the sixth spot. Drink Box Studios also reportedly published a game this year that was also among the most played games of the year--Severed.
Drool's Thumper reportedly got more players than the Pokemon GO this year. Niantic started off the year well when the game was published. Apparently, problems with the tracker and bugs quickly decreased the number of gamers playing the game by the end of the year.
Pokemon GO Christmas Event will last Dec. 23, 2016-Jan. 1, 2017
In other news, Niantic recently added Gen 2 Pokemon in the Pokemon GO app. Moreover, Starbucks and Sprint locations have also reportedly been converted to Poke gyms and Poke Stops. On the other hand, while game after game have been releasing Holiday content, Niantic reportedly kept mum on a Holiday event for the app.
The Pokemon GO Thanksgiving and Halloween event reportedly raked in big revenues for the app. In the meantime, Pokemon GO players reportedly got a Santa hat-wearing Pikachu for Christmas. However, data miners at The Silph Road reportedly got information that new present/gift images and HasHolidayItems in the game reportedly reveal more about the holiday event.
