Hyundai HND-9 Sports Concept Unveiled Ahead Of Seoul

Hyundai has unveiled a couple of renderings of its upcoming HND-9 concept which will be presented at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show on March 28.

HND-9 embodies Hyundai's ninth concept made by the R&D Center in Namyang, Korea. It looks like a preview of what we will see on the next Genesis Coupe.

The rear-wheel-drive vehicle includes butterfly doors and dual tailpipes. It has the same muscular style and long bonnet as the HCD-14 concept that rolled out at the Detroit Motor Show in January. The car also features spiral-shaped lines that link to the headlamps along with a wide hexagonal front grille.

Under the hood, the HND-9 packs a direct-injection, turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine producing 365 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

"The 'HND-9' represents an evolution of Hyundai's fluidic sculpture design philosophy." Hyundai stated in a press release. "The ninth concept model developed by Hyundai Motor Group's R&D Center in Namyang, Korea, the HND-9 features sophisticated details in every design element, reinforcing a premium look. In particular, the HND-9, with its dramatic long hood and wheelbase, is a modern reinterpretation of the elegant image of a classic premium sports coupe."

More details on the vehicle's design and technologies will be unveiled at the Seoul Motor Show. The 11-day event will be the largest show ever, featuring cars from 331 car makers across 13 countries. Around 1.2 million visitors are expected, a 20 percent increase from last year. Vehicles will include BMW's 3-series GT and M6 Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz's A-class, the Volvo i40 and Volkswagen's new Golf.

Hyundai Motor Co. was established in 1967 and later grew into the Hyundai Motor Group. The company sold 4.06 million vehicles worldwide in 2011. It has over 80,000 employees and offers a product line that features small to large passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and SUVs.
