Mario Kart 64 Will Hit North American Wii U Virtual Console Today

With lots of consoles and monster gaming PC present these days, the classic Wii U was left out on its last leg. However, it seems like this old little fellow has something left in its tank, thanks to the recent release of numerous Virtual Consoles and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in the past few weeks. As reported, most of these titles are now available in some areas already. However, Nintendo is now slowly launching them in the US, adding lots of classics to an already pretty decent roster. Currently, the latest game title added is Mario Kart 64, which will hit the North American Wii U Virtual console today, Dec. 29.

According to the report from Attack of the Fanboy, Mario Kart 64 is truly a classic title receiving high praise during the time it was released. In addition, it maintained its astounding gameplay that brings lots of fun and excitement even its successor cannot fully surpassed. Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 was truly a masterpiece. However, there is something about this title that really take root for numerous gamers back in the 90s. It has been dated in a variety of ways. Moreover, it should be a great comeback to classic Mario Kart experience.

Based on the report, Mario Kart 64 will be normally priced at $9.99 for first time buyers. For those who previously owned the game on their Wii Virtual Console and transfer it to their Wii U, should be able to have a $2 discount for a simple upgrade. Apparently, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask encountered some issues. As a result, it is highly recommended to make sure that you will be receiving the upgrade discount before buying the game.

Meanwhile, the benefit of the upgrade mostly focuses on the ease of use - being able to play the game without requiring to launch the Wii emulator found on the Wii U. It will also grant players to play using Gamepad, which can be an enormous advantage if you are sharing your TV with other players.
