What Games From 2016 Did The Naughty Dog Directors Love?

2016 saw the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and it was considered to be one of the most satisfying endings to a modern franchise. As of now, the studio behind the game, Naughty Dog, is being looked-at for the release of its follow-up to the highly successful Last of Us, and director Neil Druckmann has listed his best games of 2016.

In an interview with Game Informer, Druckmann said that his top games for the past year have been titles like Inside, Super Mario Run, Rez Infinite and Dishonored 2.His "Game of the Year," however, was The Last Guardian from Team Ico/genDESIGN.

Druckmann had this to say about the game: "Trico is a masterclass in creating a believable, living creature. By the end of the journey I was wiping away tears - the first time that has ever happened to me in a video game."

Bruce Straley, another director at Naughty Dog, said that his favorite games of 2016 had been Budget Cuts, Thumper, The Lab and Grow Up. He has also singled out Inside, saying that it's probably one his favorite games of all time.

According to Gaming Bolt, Druckmann will be working on the release of The Last of Us Part II this year, while Straley has taken a sabbatical and there has been no announcement on what his next project will be. Could he be working on the upcoming Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remaster when he gets back to work?

Game Informer actually interviewed numerous game directors for their choice of top games, and The Last Guardian and Inside have been one of the most recurring titles on directors' lists. Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4 has also been commended, as well as Pokemon GO and Blizzard's highly successful Overwatch.

A lot of hope comes with 2017 as highly anticipated titles like Last of Us Part II, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Star Wars Battlefront 2 are slated for release.
