It Looks Like The Nintendo Switch Will Be In Short Supply On Launch Day, Here's Why

A lot of gamers are looking forward to the release of the Nintendo Switch this year as it looks to be one unique console that melds the best of both console and handheld gaming. News has it that launch day will have a severe understocking of the Nintendo Switch, so any person who is looking to secure one on launch day should pre-order the system now.

The news was broken out by GoNintendo who tweeted, "Our source just told me that 20 units is the minimum Switch allotment for GameStop locations, and the maximum is 30." That's a severely low number for what's considered to be one of the most anticipated consoles of the year.

Gaming Bolt had pointed out that Nintendo has always had a problem with understocking its consoles in the past few years, and with only two million units said to be available on launch day, it might just be near impossible for some to get their hands on a Nintendo Switch.

Some fans may be lead to ask about the stocking that will be available for retailers other than Gamestop, but reports say that it's likely that companies like Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart and Toys R Us will also be stocked with the same supply for the Nintendo Switch. So much for being one of the most anticipated consoles of the year.

No doubt this delay could actually lead to more hype surrounding the Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo might just douse out a flame if fans will have to wait a while longer to get their hands on their newest console. They shouldn't forget that Microsoft also plans to reveal the Xbox One Scorpio this year, and with the news surrounding the console, gamers may as well just skip getting the Switch in favor of a more powerful Xbox.

No official announcement has come from Nintendo, so fans will just have to wait till launch day to see if they could get their hands on the Nintendo Switch. The Switch is expected to launch this coming March.
