Fans were dismayed since Injustice 2 did not release much updates a few months after the reveal of Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn and Deadshot. Fans are expecting for more information and character reveals, thus NetherRealm Studios at last released a new CG trailer that focuses around the story. They also a confirmed a few new characters which will be included in the roster. Additionally, the trailer has also revealed many versions of the game, and each contains new content such as future downloadable characters, more digital goodies, and armor shades.

After the release of the story trailer, the preorder pages automatically went live which facilitated the revelation about the availability of a Digital Deluxe and Ultimate edition of Injustice 2. The official website posted that fans who are willing to spend more than the base price will be able to have an access to some of the game's additional content. The game's Ultimate version will be sold for a price of $99.99, however it does include many of its content, according to Game Rant. Through it, players will be able to access nine downloadable content characters, three premier skins, and two exclusive shader packs that is called Defender and Destroyer.

The premier skins for The Flash, Green Lantern, Supergirl are included in this bundle. The description says that when these unique skins are applied, it will alter the look of the character including its dialogue and voice. The Flash skin can change the character into his enemy Reverse Flash, Supergirl can turn into Powergirl, and Green Lantern Hal Jordan can transform into Green Lantern John Stewart. It is also possible that more skins will be released as time goes by, thus it will offer a new aura of an existing character instead of just adding another duplicate into the roster.
